Transportation

· General Description: The Chateau owns a 23-passenger bus and an automobile which are used for general activities and may also be reserved for private transportation, subject to the availability of a driver and vehicle. All transportation reservations should be made through the Administrative Office or the Concierge. (See list of ancillary charges).

· Grocery Shopping: Each Tuesday and Thursday, the bus leaves the Chateau entrance circle to go to Vons supermarket at 9:30a.m. or to Albertson’s at 10:00a.m. Pick-up is an hour later and, on your return to the Chateau, there will be assistance in carrying your groceries up to your unit. There is no charge for these trips.

· The Loop: Also on Tuesdays and Thursdays, at 1:00p.m. and 2:00p.m., complimentary transportation is provided for medical and other appointments within a five mile radius of the Chateau, plus Tri-City Hospital and Kaiser medical Center. This service is designated the “loop” and allows for one stop per person. Please sign up with the Concierge at least 24 hours in advance and provide an exact address for your appointment.

· Mall Trips: Usually arranged once a month, on a Friday, at 10:00a.m. alternating between the shopping malls in Carlsbad and Escondido. A shorter trip to Trader Joe’s, leaving the Chateau at 1:00p.m., is incorporated into the mall trip. Please sign up with the Concierge for both of these no-charge shopping trips.

· Private Transportation: Requests for private transportation, including service to and from San Diego Airport and Cruise Ship Terminal, should be made as far as possible in advance. All private transportation is billed at the same rate without regard to the number of passengers. (See list of ancillary charges). Residents’ personal vehicles may not be driven by Chateau personnel.

· Special Events: Charges for trips to theatres, concerts and other special events are billed on your monthly statement. (see list of ancillary charges for zone rates).
